Reminder Post

Hi, Big Bang Participants!

This post is just a nudge to mention that, as of October 15, we're one month into the challenge! How much have you written? Are you finished your twenty thousand, or have you not started at all? Do you need a cheerleader or a hand-holder? Are you ready to brag, or do you need to scream out to the heavens in despair? Either way, this is the post to do it in!

In other news, we've had a very gracious offer from [livejournal.com profile] silja_b to act as a medical beta for those who might need it. The medicine, of course, is a huge part of a plotty House fic. [livejournal.com profile] silja_b may not have time to accommodate everyone who asks, but she has a post here where you can find out the details. [livejournal.com profile] raiining has also volunteered, and you can ask her for more information here.

If other members of the community feel they could also offer their services as medical betas, that's always appreciated. Email the [livejournal.com profile] house_bigbang mods at housebigbangmods@gmail.com, or drop a comment here or at the Beta Volunteer Post.

Good luck, everyone, as we head into our second month!

I can do a medical beta also. I mean I'm busy, but if two share the work it's probably easier, right? :)

*screams in despair*

I have nothing. I have a few hundred words. And Wilson isn't talking to me.

It's probably bad if we've got nothing, right?

Yeah.

*screams out to the heavens in despair*

Blocked, blocked, blocked, in every aspect of everything I try to write! *cries*

It sure doesn't seeeeeeem like iiiiiiit.

But you, pshaw. You can draft yours in, like, two weeks, whenever inspiration strikes. You're quick!

I considered dropping out earlier today, but that's normal, right???? ;p

Okay I am in trouble!

[identity profile] diagnosticmad.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
I have like only about a half page done for Big Bang...!

But I do have ideas, it's just, I am such a hard time staying motivated about my work in general...anyone who can hold my hand and tell me that House running away from Princeton, NJ and travelling the world to find himself is a good plot for a long term piece...that would be great.

That's what I got right now. Yargh...I will get it done. I want to write it and I also want it to be the best House fic I will ever write.

That is all.

I'd like to read that. :)

Well, I had nearly 5,000 words, but then my computers went ka-blooey and now I have less than that, and also no will to write whatsoever. It'll come back, it's just kind of ... stinging ... right now.

[identity profile] earlwyn.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
I have around 2,000 words. I would be all, "yay, ten percent!" but I think it sucks. And want to erase it all. And possibly NEVER EVER EVER WRITE AGAIN.

Existential writer's crisis anyone?

[identity profile] shutterbug12.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes that happens to me. I'll have a bunch written, look at it, and think, "Wow, this is horrible." But there's something to be said for that, since it's good to know what you don't want, so you could have an easier (well, maybe not easier) time getting to what you do want, if that makes any sense.

Don't worry. You'll pull through it. :)

[identity profile] earlwyn.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll tryyyyyyy... :) *nose back to grindstone*

[identity profile] hwshipper.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
*smug mode* 4500 words written & with a beta. Of course now I've written that RL will probably raise its ugly head tomorrow and chop me off at the knees.

[identity profile] shutterbug12.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh. *sulks with jealousy*

But seriously, yay! Good to hear it's going well. :)

I have about 2000 words by now, but it's such slow going. *sobs* RL is really beating me up at the moment...
But I'll finish it! *nods fervently*

[identity profile] shutterbug12.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I only have an outline finished. I've been a little blocked when it comes to actually writing it lately, so I've been trying to work on smaller pieces to get back into the swing of things. Plus I recently finished my first 20,000+ word fic, which left me a little exhausted, so I need to get back on the horse. Oh, and my beta's been in China, lucky girl. And I realized how much medical research I have to do for this, and it's a bit daunting. And I just started a new job that's been keeping me very busy.

Sheesh, I need to stop whining. :(

[identity profile] hwshipper.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Sheesh, I need to stop whining. :(

No you don't, at least, don't feel you have to! Isn't that what we're here for?....

[identity profile] shutterbug12.livejournal.com 2007-10-19 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
I'm back to whine some more, because [livejournal.com profile] hwshipper said I didn't have to stop. ;)

This is mostly a question for [livejournal.com profile] queenzulu. While I really want to write my original idea I posted for this challenge, it's not coming along as smoothly as I hoped it would at this point. It's not something I'll be giving up on, but I think I may want to work on it at my own pace, because of how involved it is. But, I was hit with a nearly fully formed plot bunny earlier tonight and was wondering if it would be all right to switch this new story for my original story. It would make my life a lot easier and I'd still get to participate. :)

i probably should be joining in the crying out in despair, considering i have ZILCH written, but i'm just biding my time until november starts. and from then until february, i will be on the biggest creative high ever, and i will churn out my nanovel, my yuletide piece, and my house bigbang piece. which i already have mapped out. it's going to be insane, and i might not get a decent night's rest from now until then, but hey. itll be worth it.

I'm a quarter done! Hurrah!

...Course I'm also doing NaNo. So I may be a quarter done for a very long time.

[identity profile] arhh.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I have it mostly mapped out, but I am screaming in despair. My muses are refusing to play nice. I want to strangle them.

[identity profile] the-xarlster.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
okay, I wasn't sure whether to post here or at the beta thread, but as it's not really offering a beta service, I was thinking...

... seeing as the beta thread is pretty cluttered, maybe an idea would be a beta masterlist. Like everyone who can beta writes a sentence, for example "the_xarlster - offering services as beta and cheerleader. Comment at her journal for contact details. Can help with grammar and spelling and also any lacrosse knowledge that might be needed."

Just a thought. I'm too tired to tell if it's a decent one or not.

[identity profile] namasteyoga.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Not only have I not started, I'm not even panicking about starting yet. Is that a bad thing?

Actually, I don't sweat deadlines or word counts, normally. I don't even write out much of a plot structure first. I have a general idea and just go with it.

Quick question for the mods, which I can follow up with in email ... we were planning to have a discussion thread on writing for challenges on Housefic_Meta/The Clinic (as part of the uniting of the two comms), and were going to mention the Big Bang challenge in that thread/discussion. If you have specific links or pointers or questions that would be good for that discussion, let me know.

Have not started anything, because I'm too busy finishing up all the overdue prompts from summer fests. Frig! Balls! Dang!
I need a Xena cheerleader, I think, who isn't afraid to break out the whip. *ponders that image for a while* That is rather inspiring. I do live near Seattle, I could probably find somebody willing...

I am the Slowest Writer in the World!

[identity profile] oldblue.livejournal.com 2007-11-18 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Little late, but that's pretty much true about everything I do...

I'm about 5,000 words in and I'm not quite halfway done with the first part - there are going to be three parts, total. In theory.

I've come to realize that I'm a damn slow writer. Like, molasses slow. I have an editing problem: I can't just let a sentence be unless it's absolutely right. I need to just start getting it out. But I can't. Alcohol doesn't help - it just makes me cruise the interweb for cat memes.

So, basically I'm overly wordy, yet slow. Hmmmm... That's not a good combination.

I am going to finish this, dammit!

[identity profile] theletterseven.livejournal.com 2007-11-26 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
OH HAI

this is [livejournal.com profile] analytical_47, just with my fancy new writing journal, telling you that I WILL FINISH THIS DAMN THING, and that I've changed the whole style of what I'm doing. :D

[identity profile] theletterseven.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, it's all the same, just a new journal to post writing on. :D
