Prompts Post
Ever wish that there was a story out there, somewhere, that just happened to hit every fic kink you ever had?
The one where Wilson secretly grows wings and doesn't know who to tell or what it all means on a molecular level and what about Science, but House thinks they're the sexiest appendages Wilson has ever secretly grown?
The one where Foreman's long lost brother Marcus gets out of jail and comes back into Foreman's life--only to reveal the deepest darkest secret that ever rocked Princeton Plainsboro?
The one where Chase and Cameron really did move to Arizona, and were happy except when they weren't, and it wasn't because Cameron was hung up on House--it was because Chase was?
The one where Cuddy totally pwns House and all his works, and House vows a terrible revenge that possibly involves water balloons filling her office like a ball-pit?
The one where House is a kindergarten teacher? ...no, no, wait, come back, somebody's going to write this, right? I MEAN COME ON.
If you're not a writer, or if 20 000 words is very intimidating, or you'd like to pitch a few ideas in the pot, then this is the post for you! Anyone and everyone can contribute. Give of your plotbunnies, and the Big Bang participants will thank you.

Well, here are some (which I hope I'm allowed to give):

I know this one. Isn't somebody already working on this?

Ooh, shiny. Angsty. But shiny.
-Cuddy decides to take an early retirement. House can't handle it. He wants her back and he wants to know why she left.
No WAY could he handle it. For one thing, he'd get fired. And he'd miss her. You know he would. The big sap.
-Cameron experiences amnesia and falls in love with Chase all over again.
Aw, I would love to see someone write this!
-What if the roles were reversed? What if House ended up in more serious condition at Princeton General, while Amber had less serious injuries at PPTH?
You? Have AWESOME plot bunnies. I would like to borrow them sometime. ^^

Or, just, 13. 13. 13. 13. Everyone needs some 13.

Some ideas:
- Anything with Amber. Because we need more of her.
- Amber/Foreman. They're two competitive strivers who have often put their careers ahead of their personal relationships; they've suffered under House's thumb. They'd probably backstab each other to reach their goals. Do not tell me this wouldn't be an excellent pairing to explore.
- Something with the gang outside the hospital. Maybe House has to solve a real crime, one that has nothing to do with medicine. Maybe there's a Diagnostics conference, and all/some of the characters spend the weekend in a hotel.
- AU in which House never had the infarction.
- One of the characters loses their job at their hospital/has to stop practicing medicine. Why? What do they do instead?
If I have any more ideas, I'll post them. :)

I just had to say I love you so much, because I was thinking exactly this during the entire survivor arc. :D (That and Amber had chemistry with everyone and everything.)
no subject
I didn't think of Amber/Foreman until after the arc, when I was considering the events & characters more closely, and then it irritated me that the series didn't explore this dynamic, not even on a gen level. GOLD WAITING TO HAPPEN.
That's what happens when a story only lets people have relationships with the main character. *SADFACE*

-I wanna see an Indiana Jones crossover/fusion. You know you could see House in the hat.
-Or screw it, maybe House stayed in Egypt and became an archaeologist, and Cuddy is his cantankerous field supervisor.
YEAH OKAY MAYBE GRAD SCHOOL ATE MY BRAIN

You know, I might just borrow parts of that plot bunny. That would give me pretty good headway for my fic. Do you mind if I borrow it? *begs*

- Crossover World War Z or The Road fic, or anything set post-apocalyptic event wherein House (and hopefully Wilson and Cuddy) struggles to survive.
- Crossover with the William Hurt film The Doctor. Spoiler for the movie: a doctor changes his style of patient care after being diagnosed with throat cancer. In particular, there is a scene towards the end of the film where he tells his interns that a doctor can't know anything about patient care if they have never been a patient, so he isolates them in a ward, forces them to wear gowns, and assigns them diseases/ailments, stipulating that they will have all routine tests done to them and be forced to remain in the hospital until their treatment has run its course.
- Crossover H/W fic with unrequited Hugh Laurie/Robert Sean Leonard. Just because.
- What if Stacy had authorized amputation instead of debridement?
- House and 13 are colleagues with benefits until she starts showing signs of Huntington's and Wilson can't resist the hint of neediness in the air. Who exactly is House more jealous of when she and Wilson start seeing each other?

Except in Wilson's case it would be divorced, divorced, divorced; died, died, died.
Hmm *pictures Wilson as Henry VIII*

Ha! WANT. Also just because. If only I didn't already have *plenty* of ideas...

~ Post-Wilson's Heart!Wilson in the Twilight Zone. (I'm just dying to see something like this)
~ PPTH is on fire. Expound on the past, present, and future.
How did it start? What was everyone doing the day it happened?
Is everyone calm when it happens? Was anyone trapped? Did anyone "play hero"/really was a hero? Was anyone permanently injured?
Will they all end up working at different hospitals? Will PPTH be restored to its former glory?
~ House choosing to stay in his 'No Reason' hallucination.
~ House and his piano.
~ Wilson and Taub cheat on their current relationships with the same woman.
~ The main cast are all just different personalities for someone's multiple-personality-disorder.
~ The world of Coma-Guy.
~ One of the main characters is on trial. The prosecutor is their conscience, the defense is their common-sense, the case is their life.

I would attempt it, but I'm afraid I wouldn't do it justice. This is a result of watching Sybil and St. Elsewhere.

~ House choosing to stay in his 'No Reason' hallucination.
Except I would change it slightly.... to his "Wilson's Heart" hallucination- the bus.
Is that okay with you?

In fact, I think I should move the rest of these ideas over to

Also after some thinking, that will be my big bang.... just add some of my original ideas to it :)

- Old Fraud was working at Columbia at the same time Wilson went to school there. Find other crossing-of-paths between characters and expand on it...somehow.
- Supernatural element: House somehow in Amber's body. And Wilson doesn't know. Creepiness and awkwardness abound!
- AU. Amber and Chase have an affair after realizing their SO's are both hung up on House.
- Wilson as asexual. Because it would actually work...
- Some form of Big Gay Wilson and bonding with Thirteen.

(Anonymous) 2008-08-28 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)House/Wilson (slash or frienship)
Mental Illness or Autism- either House or Wilson has a mental illness (other than 'depression' something like Bipolar Disorder or something from the autism spectrum. A lot of stuff that is recognised now wasn't recognised 20 or 30 years ago so a lot of people who are adults now would never have been diagnosed with some conditions. House or Wilson struggle, diagnosis is mentioned, the whole fall out would be beautiful.
Or: House is a changeling. Supernatural AU. Gen preferred for this one.
House is a post-op FtM-but due to the limitations of phalloplasty hasn't got 'it'. I think it'd be a really interesting idea. Ditto for Wilson. (only not both in the same fic, because that'd be getting a bit strange I think)
Wilson is adopted. He never told House. Something happens (inherited disease? birth-family member showing up?) and it all comes out.

Plotbunnies
- In which House concocts a devious plan and gives Tritter his just deserts.
- In which the gang are snowed in at a conference in Aspen/place with snow.
- In which it turns out that House used to be an English actor/comedian called Lou Horrie.
- In which Stephen Fry is rushed to PPTH after an accident whilst filming his American documentary.
Re: Plotbunnies
I had a similar silly!bunny, where everybody loved House for some reason and want to do "that" with him, except for Wilson, who's already in love with him anyway and has therefore developed an immunity to whatever it is that effects all the other people. So he becomes House's co-conspirator to find out what the hell is wrong with everybody else.
Re: Plotbunnies
That would be MADE of AWESOME. I hope some has picked this one to do!
no subject
NO WAY. O.O You must be kidding me. This was one of my options. I'm so moving that up to plan A and the Tritter!fic to B (sorry, once again, Tritter/Russel). :O Well, in mine it's more 2nd or 3rd grade, but it still counts. I know, wacky, right? I <3 WACKY. XD
Anyway. Some bunnies to drop off:
*AU Wilson/Amber: A happy what-could-have-been. House is peripheral, not all that involved. Maybe the accident never happened, or she survived it, or something. Take your pick.
*Musical!Wilson! He plays guitar, maybe sings. Maybe he and House duet, piano+guitar or dual guitars or whatever.
*Abused!Wilson! Girlfriend, boyfriend, House, wives (past or future), the general public; emotional, psychological, physical, sexual; whatever, really. Any or all of the above or otherwise.
*Something dealing with something like brain damage, maybe an AU where the character of your choice has a learning disability. Try to, perhaps, still get them involved with the other characters (IE, Wilson's autistic, but his and House's paths still cross and they carry on from there).
*House-Holmes-ness! Crossovers, adaptions, references, parallels, whatever.
*Cracky AU where House&Co. get sucked into a video game. :D
*A murder/medical mystery. Maybe re-involve Tritter, or crossover with Law & Order or CSI or Without a Trace or Bones or Cold Case or something. Bonus points for a character we know (whether from the main, supporting, or side cast, recurring or not) being the one murdered, and figuring out Tritter and not stereotyping him as the bad guy; maybe even make him a good guy.
*Wilson has an infarction in his left arm. Bonus points for having him handle it better than House (just to be different; in any Wilson-has-infarction fics I've come across it's made Wilson somehow better understand House and come to a broader understanding and in the long run know how better to help House; but what if that's not the case? What if Wilson really HAS known better all these years, but House was just being stubborn? And HOUSE is the one to come to that broader understanding and the rest?) despite it possibly being worse than House's situation (I'd be more traumatized and hindered/crippled if I lost my arm, especially my dominate one, than my leg, personally; I'd find it more difficult to function daily with the use of one arm cut painfully in half. Not that losing a leg wouldn't be terrible, but...unlike House, I've never been real active. XD But everyone's different). And wow, this was a long bunny.
*All the times Wilson's gone to counseling--for instance, from family, to wife #1, wife #2, wife #3, with House, and finally completely alone.
*Wilson develops a really alternative fashion sense (old-fashioned, ancient, steampunk (!!), gothic, cross-dressing, be creative). Either hides it from House and the world for fear of humiliation, drags House along for the ride, is dragged along for the ride BY House, or it just happens and people notice there's something different. Whatever.
*House teaches Wilson how to play piano.
*Wilson has a kid who wants to be JUST like his beloved daddy. But when Wilson becomes less available (sick for a long time, nervous breakdown thanks to House or stress or something, work, whatever), the kid spends more time with House. The kid develops bad habits thanks to his uncle, but since House lets him/her get away with anything, he/she comes to think House is more fun and cooler. Deals with single-lonely-fatherly angst of losing a child's love, doing what's best for the child whether they like it or not, facing failure (real, perceived, or possible), teaching the kid that getting away with anything and having all those bad habits really ISN'T cooler; also, maybe general Wilson-angst over coming in second to House yet again; not being good enough, being inferior, whatever. Just run with it. This is getting too long. XD
no subject
*Post-Wilson's Heart fic deeply exploring Wilson's feelings and motives; DOES NOT end with Wilson "coming around" and returning faithfully to House's side. He decides he'd be better off without House; if not happier, then at least a hell of a lot less unhappy. And he's right. Wilson!angst, not House!angst. Maybe House doesn't even appear in it. Just an introspective of Wilson reflecting on his years with House and justifiably reaching the conclusions we've heard rumoured (they were never really friends, he needs to and has the right to walk away, etc.).
*Post-Wilson's Heart House!guilt angst, with him realizing Wilson really, truly, honestly has every reason to want to leave and probably should for his own good, but God help House, he loves Wilson so much it hurts. So what does he do, how does he change, to get him to stay? Could work in conjunction with the previous one easily. For a different take, alternate exploration, on the way people have been treating S4 and S5. To more thoroughly explore where Wilson's coming from without presupposing his motives are bastardly and mean and selfish and impure might ease the pain. XD
*House and/or Wilson + pets = GO WILD. :D
*While helping Wilson pack to move (in with House or out of Amber's apartment or generally elsewhere), House discovers a stash of something, like an odd collection (I'm thinking along the lines of non-family/friends pictures, jewelry, knick-knacks, whatever). What is it and what's the story behind it all?
*Why Wilson's such a good cook. Come up with one reason or create one of those 5-ways-blah-happened-and-one-way-it-didn't kind of things and throw out several possible reasons, running parallel or being completely separate ideas entirely.
*Similarly, why House is such a good pianist/guitarist.
*What medications is Wilson taking?
*Wilson's and House's childhoods may not have been very different at all, but they just handled it differently.
*Wilson's and House's childhoods couldn't be more different, but they were just different means to an end; both somehow suffered the same psychological/emotional trauma.
*Wilson receives/inherits a watch of some sort and has a breakdown or similar. Why? What does the watch mean? And how does he/House/someone/everyone handle it? (Side-note: Holmes deduced everything about Watson's LLB from a pocket watch Watson had inherited from him when he died. As in, the engraving of "H.W." implied it was in the family but not originally Watson's and since the first son typically inherits the father's name it must have been Watson's older brother's, and the scrapes around the keyhole indicate the LLB wasn't sober, and the marks indicate he was careless, but the upkeep on the watch itself implies he must have had times of prosperity, and finally, the fact that Watson has it at all must mean his brother was dead and Watson had inherited it. It's implied he had died recently (the watch recently came into Watson's possession, and Watson's reaction to all this deduction), and Watson is outraged at Holmes' flippant tone and what he thinks is trickery. Holmes really just got caught up in deducing and forgot what it might mean to Watson. Then Holmes goes on to wax poetic about the woes of the world and the boredom and the dullness of life and how the criminals of London have all gone, no interesting cases, and immediately after all this their landlady knocks on the door and announces he has a client. xD But that last bit was unimportant. I'll shut up.)
*Last one, promise: Wilson plays date-coach/match-maker/Cupid to House/Cuddy. <3
Sorry so many. I had fun, for what it's worth. xD
Sign-ups end today! :O
Maybe I can finally settle on one~ Wilson turns into a yellow, smily-face balloon (three guesses where this came from.
~ Explore EVERY alternative outcome of House's Head/Wilson's Heart (i.e. House and Amber having different seats on the bus, Amber not taking the bus at all, House stopping Amber from taking the pills in the first place, etc.)
~ House and Wilson never get their issues settled and end up living the rest of their lives with regret. They get reincarnated. Will they be able to resolve their problems this time? Or will destiny keep cycling leaving them doomed to repeat their mistakes again and again?
~ Cate Milton comes in to help resolve the House/Wilson situation.
~ House, losing his mind to the guilt, tries to make things right with the other major situations he's had in his life. It's a reunion with Volger, Tritter, and whatever else is down memory lane!
~ What if it was Wilson and Stacy in the House's Head/Wilson's Heart situation pre-infarction? Would Wilson (subconsciously) go out of his way to try and save her? How would House react in this turn of events?
~ All of House's old patients. Link their stories together somehow.
~ Wilson commits suicide after Amber's death. His punishment is to watch House slowly go insane.
~ What if the baraku that inspired House to be a doctor, really was JUST a janitor? How different would House's life turn out to be? What different turns did he take?
~ House's Head/Wilson's Heart never happened. What if Wilson's LLB ended up killing Amber, and House was the only one that knew?
