queenzulu is a consummate storyteller, and quickly snares the reader in a tangle of the characters' good intentions, half-truths and self-deceptions. Complex, nuanced characterization where everyone is ultimately fundamentally flawed and human is a hallmark of her distinctive style. A wealth of perfect details add to the story, from monster trucks and clinic pranks to all the little signs of the end of a relationship. And finally, there is scorching sex, as imperfect as all the players in this tragedy of intention. This story will appeal strongly to anyone who wants a subtly nuanced and true to life story.

But as it becomes apparent that Cuddy isn't coping with motherhood as well as she, or anyone else, expected, it's up tot House to step in and be what she needs. In Lead Me Into The Night,

cryptictac delivers it all - heart-wrenching angst, spot-on banter between House and Wilson, excellent characterization across the board, and a style of prose that is both simplistic and beautiful.

Cameron and her brother Jaimie don't really talk. They exchange notes, letters, emails and photos, but they don't talk. At least not about anything of any real importance. But when Jaimie, who joined the army years ago much to their parents' consternation, comes to visit Cameron, all the the unnamed, unspoken tensions between brother and sister start to reveal the cracks and unsaid small faults in Cameron's relationship with Chase. The strain of so many small silences takes its toll on her, and she finds herself inexplicably drawn towards House.

fated_addiction's rich, dense prose creates a moody and atmospheric story. A wealth of everyday detail adds up to an inevitable, oppressive air where the simple act of washing one's hands takes on great significance. This is a great read for anyone inclined towards hints of House/Cameron and introspective character studies.

sodiumbisulfite crafts a dark, surreal story about jealousy and revenge. In this story, she takes on four completely different fandoms and weaves together characters from each of them to form a coherent whole. All her characters are deeply, humanly flawed, and the Joker is especially a terrifying, unknowable menace. This is not a story for the faint of heart, but those who are willing to take the chance will be greatly rewarded.

If you're a fan of unique mindfucks, then In My Darkest Dreams just might be down your alley. It's a collaborative fic, written by

benjimmy and

nemesishamartia. The story begins from 97 Seconds, with the authors' take on where House's mind was taken after he shocked himself with the knife in the electric socket. From that point forward, the story twists through an interesting mirror maze of House's mind and the strange direction his relationship with Wilson takes after Amber dies. The story is a very dark one; it leaves little to the imagination, with almost every dark theme you can think of touched on at some point. Without a doubt, whatever it may be that you end up taking away from this story, it's one you definitely won't forget for a long, long time.

House knows that the two mysterious well-dressed men in Wilson's office are going to be trouble. However, the truth is far stranger than even House can guess. Ianto Jones and Jack Harkness are from Torchwood, a secret organization outside the government and beyond the police, devoted to keeping humanity safe from alien intervention. Their appearance brings up forgotten trauma from Wilson's past, and means a trip to Wales for both House and Wilson. And a strange series of deaths in Cardiff can be solved by only one person--House.

This tense mix of medical and supernatural mystery combines the best elements of both shows.

mer_duff uses strong folklore elements and medical causes to create a case that takes both Torchwood and Princton Plainsborough's finest to solve. The dialogue is sharp, and true to both shows, the plot is fast-moving and nail-biting, and the mysterious deaths have a very real emotional effect on the characters. A moving exploration of Wilson's grief over Amber and friendship with House.

And All Our Little Agonies by

rosenskimmer is a rather melancholy story that takes place in season three of House, with a large AU twist to it. After the ketamine treatment, House is confronted with two medical cases that shun him out of his comfort zone, both equally as baffling as each other. While struggling to piece the puzzles of the cases together, the ketamine treatment begins failing and his pain slowly but surely returns, and when the people closest to him start deserting him he finds unexpected comfort in one of his patients. With well-rounded focus on all the characters and some sharp, witty dialogue, And All Our Little Agonies is an enjoyable read, especially for those who are interested in seeing an AU take on season three.

Wilson and House both have some definite issues, and some clear motivations behind the surface-level hijinx and banter. This exploration into jealousy, unrealized emotion, and Wilson's feminine side is a good read for anyone who thinks that gender is clearly no boundary to House and Wilson's true feelings for each other.

It starts out as one of House's usual pranks. Goldfish crackers all over Wilson's desk inevitably lead to House "borrowing" a groundskeeper's boat to go fishing in Lake Carnegie. But when House catches a salmon and finds a silver ring inside the fish, things start to get truly strange. He can't get the ring off his finger, and Wilson is acting most unlike his usual self. A string of events straight out of folktale and myth ultimately take the two to a mysterious world of legend, where they encounter any number of individuals that seem oddly familiar....

This story focuses strongly on the friendship and ties between House and Wilson. The dialogue has all the banter and wit characteristic of the show, and the plot makes good use of the supporting cast. The light-hearted pranks in the opening scenes quickly shift into a compelling mix of fantasy and adventure as House and Wilson are drawn into a deeply symbolic quest where their own lives may very well hang in the balance.

How does a relationship progress from 'coworkers with benefits' to something approaching real love? House and Foreman have been together for a few months, but for two men who are scared out of their wits by commitment, it takes more than that to admit that what they feel might be something more.

alanwolfmoon takes the time to outline all the obstacles that stand between House and Foreman and actually saying the words. House's injuries after the bus crash are more substantial, and he needs reassurance that Foreman doesn't pity him. Foreman is no more certain that he can work up the courage to tell House that he's ready to take the next step.

alanwolfmoon's Air Conditioner is all the more wonderful for its rarity. It's a long, character-driven, romantic story--with the romance, of course, taking a necessary backseat to arguments, fights, and frustration. Light and quick-paced, Air Conditioner shows House and Foreman at their stubborn and infuriating best.

When Amber realizes that, despite the fact that Wilson and Amber are in love, Wilson always manages to put House's welfare before Amber's when push comes to shove, she decides to make Wilson happy the only way she knows how. One and Two tells the story of Amber's journey once she makes Wilson realize that he loves House, too--and the fallout that inevitably occurs.

usomitai has a fine grasp on Amber's characterization, making her sympathetic without softening any of her more abrasive traits, giving her a complexity that rings true throughout the story. In the first person, Amber's voice shines through, and she becomes a sympathetic character whose action has consequences she wasn't prepared to deal with. The delicacy of the love triangle, Wilson's reluctance and later enthusiasm, and House's unexpected response, all make One and Two an intriguing and believable story.

hwshipper specializes in crossovers that bring House and Wilson together with sleuths and detectives, and Bounty Hunter Bedlam is another successful venture into the genre. Fast-paced and with a great voice, Bounty Hunter Bedlam easily places the reader in the point of view of Stephanie Plum, a bail bondsman tracking down Wilson's brother. But one mystery leads to another, and soon Plum and her gang of associates--each one clearly drawn--are pulled in to help Wilson's brother, and, in the end, to help Wilson reveal one more important truth to his family. Along the way, there are monster trucks, road trips, and danger for all.

hwshipper writes with wit and humour to flesh out an outsider's view of House and Wilson, and this story will satisfy readers of her long-running AU as well as newcomers.

The House Big Bang Archive is once again up and running. Thank you to everyone for your patience during the downtime. Let's see if we can't use up April's bandwidth too, shall we?

The House MD Big Bang Challenge began in September 2007, and after Round One's success, Round Two was organized in August 2008. The novellas in this archive are representative of the variety of ships and genres in the fandom, and range in subject from canon to crossovers to crack. There is certain to be a story for every taste, and we hope that you will reward the hardworking and talented authors and artists with your generous feedback.
