Title: Woodwinds
Author: [personal profile] zulu
Pairing: House/Wilson (Wilson/Wendy, House/Foreman)
Rating: NC-17
Length: 39 000 words
Spoilers: Through season three.
Summary: Wilson doesn't end relationships; he launches himself headfirst into something even more disastrous instead.
Excerpt )

It takes eighteen months. It happens in small steps, but by the time a year and a half has passed, Wilson has shaken the underpinnings of his life, and has to reassess both his friendship with House and his own personal beliefs. House faces the return crippling pain and the dissolution of his relationship with Foreman. Wilson must cope with another failed romance and the realization of some harsh truths. Equal parts human weakness, self-destructive impluses and opportunistic selfishness add up to make a truly volatile situation. All it needs is the right spark...

[personal profile] zulu is a consummate storyteller, and quickly snares the reader in a tangle of the characters' good intentions, half-truths and self-deceptions. Complex, nuanced characterization where everyone is ultimately fundamentally flawed and human is a hallmark of her distinctive style. A wealth of perfect details add to the story, from monster trucks and clinic pranks to all the little signs of the end of a relationship. And finally, there is scorching sex, as imperfect as all the players in this tragedy of intention. This story will appeal strongly to anyone who wants a subtly nuanced and true to life story.

Title: Your Hand In Mine
Author: [livejournal.com profile] hihoplastic
Pairing: House/Cuddy
Rating: PG
Length: 30 000 words
Spoilers: Through season three.
Summary: They can say anything to each other, now that there’s no tomorrow.
Excerpt )

[livejournal.com profile] hihoplastic's apocalyptic AU, Your Hand In Mine, does a wonderful job of juggling several very distinct elements all at once. [livejournal.com profile] hihoplastic creates an amazing world, where disaster follows on disaster, a creepy and unresolvable crescendo of external madness. The internal plot, of House and Cuddy dealing with the world's chaos, weaves through the growing despair of the outside world, touching on it and affecting it, in turns. Finally, the slow and steady growth of House and Cuddy's relationship provides a grounding center to the story, moments of calm and love amidst the storm. Your Hand In Mine pulls out all the stops, and seems headed for certain despair, but [livejournal.com profile] hihoplastic keeps a last hope alive, even when it seems that the world must end.

Title: A Joy Forever
Author: [personal profile] bell
Pairing: House/Wilson
Rating: R
Length: 20 300
Spoilers: Through "Sleeping Dogs Lie".
Summary: Wilson's dead, but that doesn't mean he's gone.
Excerpt )

A Joy Forever is an intriguing story about love, loss, and the powerful attachment between House and Wilson. [personal profile] bell engages the reader from the very first scene, where House's reaction to Wilson's death is believable and very in character, but it is also unresolved enough to carry the plot forward. The set up and the world-building were both very well handled, so that the speculative element arises from the plot naturally. All the original characters fill their roles admirably, while having enough quirks that they become real people. House's breakdown--when it inevitably arrives--is made all the more effective by the subtle writing and carefully drawn details, as well as its precise pacing and timing within the narrative. A Joy Forever is a deathfic with a twist, one whose ramifications for the world and for the characters definitely linger beyond the final scene.
