cryptictac's Lead Me Into The Night is a devastatingly beautiful story about getting what you think you need, only to discover it's not exactly what you want. The story starts on a note familiar to fanfiction. House, after helping Cuddy conceive, distances himself from her and the baby as much as possible. But as it becomes apparent that Cuddy isn't coping with motherhood as well as she, or anyone else, expected, it's up tot House to step in and be what she needs. In Lead Me Into The Night, cryptictac delivers it all - heart-wrenching angst, spot-on banter between House and Wilson, excellent characterization across the board, and a style of prose that is both simplistic and beautiful.

Cameron and her brother Jaimie don't really talk. They exchange notes, letters, emails and photos, but they don't talk. At least not about anything of any real importance. But when Jaimie, who joined the army years ago much to their parents' consternation, comes to visit Cameron, all the the unnamed, unspoken tensions between brother and sister start to reveal the cracks and unsaid small faults in Cameron's relationship with Chase. The strain of so many small silences takes its toll on her, and she finds herself inexplicably drawn towards House.

fated_addiction's rich, dense prose creates a moody and atmospheric story. A wealth of everyday detail adds up to an inevitable, oppressive air where the simple act of washing one's hands takes on great significance. This is a great read for anyone inclined towards hints of House/Cameron and introspective character studies.

hihoplastic's apocalyptic AU, Your Hand In Mine, does a wonderful job of juggling several very distinct elements all at once. hihoplastic creates an amazing world, where disaster follows on disaster, a creepy and unresolvable crescendo of external madness. The internal plot, of House and Cuddy dealing with the world's chaos, weaves through the growing despair of the outside world, touching on it and affecting it, in turns. Finally, the slow and steady growth of House and Cuddy's relationship provides a grounding center to the story, moments of calm and love amidst the storm. Your Hand In Mine pulls out all the stops, and seems headed for certain despair, but hihoplastic keeps a last hope alive, even when it seems that the world must end.

Half Life is an amazing work of speculative fiction. oldblue uses the universe of House MD as a jumping off point into an unsolvable mystery and a vision of a dystopic world with little hope for those affected. The level of detail and description makes the story believable and bleak. The richness of the characters' interactions makes the reader feel for them and follow them. Alone even among those who, like him, are afflicted with an ever-increasing lycanthropy, House escapes captivity only to ask Wilson for a more permanent solution. The points of view, especially House's in the guise of the wolf, are effective and powerful. The quietly inevitable last scene of Half Life is wrenching, and oldblue does a wonderful job of carrying the reader through until that ultimate moment.
